Solar solutions

Solar options shaped around your property.

From residential rooftops to business premises and farm sites, the right solution starts with an assessment of consumption, available space, site conditions and your requirements.

For homes

Residential rooftop solar

Rooftop solar can help a household use more of the electricity it generates during the day. The system is planned around the home’s consumption, roof conditions and the customer’s priorities.

  • Consultation and system sizing based on your electricity use
  • Rooftop mounting and installation for suitable properties
  • Guidance on MSEDCL net metering for eligible connections
  • PM Surya Ghar guidance where the installation meets scheme rules
  • Cleaning, inspection and service support after installation

PM Surya Ghar central financial assistance is for eligible residential systems only. DCR modules and other scheme conditions apply. The subsidy is not a fixed entitlement for every property.

For businesses

Commercial & industrial solar

Shops, offices, schools, hotels, warehouses and light-industrial premises may have substantial daytime electricity use. A suitable solar system can offset part of that grid consumption, depending on the load profile and available roof area.

  • Assessment of daytime consumption and available roof space
  • System design and equipment selection for the agreed scope
  • Installation planning around the property and its operations
  • Guidance on metering and applicable DISCOM requirements
  • Maintenance and servicing options after installation

PM Surya Ghar residential subsidy does not apply to commercial or industrial installations. The business case depends on the property’s electricity use, tariff, system performance and investment.

For farms

Agricultural solar

Farms and rural properties can have different energy needs from homes and businesses. Solar may be considered for daytime loads, remote sites or ground-mounted arrangements, subject to the site and requirement.

  • Discussion of the farm’s load and operating pattern
  • On-grid, off-grid or hybrid options where suitable
  • Ground-mounted and rural site considerations
  • Battery backup considerations for selected loads
  • Separate discussion of solar pumping requirements, if applicable

PM Surya Ghar’s residential CFA does not apply to agricultural or off-grid systems. Other schemes, including PM-KUSUM, have their own eligibility and application rules. Please verify current scheme details before relying on any support.

Sizing & consultation

There is no single correct size for every property.

System size should follow your electricity use and site conditions, not a generic package. The consultation helps narrow the options before any commitment.

  • 01Monthly electricity consumption and daytime usage pattern
  • 02Available roof area, shape and orientation
  • 03Shading from trees, nearby buildings or other structures
  • 04Roof type, condition and structural suitability
  • 05Connectivity, metering and applicable DISCOM requirements
  • 06Budget, backup needs and the customer’s priorities

General guide

Capacity categories

1 kWSmall residential requirements and modest electricity use.
2–3 kWTypical residential requirements, depending on monthly consumption.
5–10 kWLarger homes and properties with higher electricity consumption.
Above 10 kWCommercial and selected industrial requirements, subject to assessment.

Indicative only. Actual sizing requires an assessment of consumption, roof area, site conditions and applicable rules. No fixed installation prices are published.

System types

On-grid, off-grid or hybrid?

The choice depends on whether you need grid export, backup during a power cut, or both.

On-grid solar

A grid-connected system works alongside the MSEDCL supply. A net-metering arrangement records import and export, and exported units can reduce the electricity bill under applicable rules.

A standard on-grid inverter shuts down during a grid outage for safety and does not provide backup.

Off-grid solar

An off-grid system operates independently of the grid and uses batteries to store energy. It can suit remote sites or locations where a grid connection is unreliable or unavailable.

Battery capacity, load profile and usage pattern are important. Off-grid systems are not eligible for PM Surya Ghar residential CFA.

Hybrid solar

A hybrid system combines a grid connection with battery storage. It can support selected backup loads during a power cut while also using grid/net-metering arrangements where approved.

Backup scope depends on the inverter, battery and critical-load wiring selected for the site.

Equipment & support

Inverters, batteries and balance-of-system components.

The equipment package should suit the system design and the site. We can discuss options and explain the role of the main components.

Solar panels & mounting

Module and mounting selection based on the agreed system, roof/site conditions and applicable requirements.

Inverters

On-grid, off-grid or hybrid inverter options depending on the system type and backup requirement.

Batteries

Battery storage can be discussed for hybrid or off-grid arrangements and selected backup loads.

Service & maintenance

Cleaning, inspection and fault support can be discussed after installation.
